Concerns about global climate change continue to grow. The defossilisation demanded by politicians can only be economically justifiable and quickly integrated if countries work closely with industry and science. Space must be created for open-technology innovations for energy generation and utilisation in mobility. Given the complex variety of applications, the creation of circular energy, raw material, supply and production chains will play a key role.
In 2024, the International Engine Congress organised by the VDI Wissensforum and ATZlive brought once again together the current state of technological knowledge of the overall system of non-fossil fuels and combustion engines and their holistic assessment of climate protection in its unique concept.
The main topics in February 2024 were:
- Carbon-neutral IC engines from a global perspective
- CO2 recycling as a key topic for reFuels
- Further development potentials for the IC engine
- Hydrogen and other sustainable energy sources
- Legal and technological differences in the markets
Another highlight of the congress was definitely the exciting panel discussion on the topic: No climate protection without IC engines!
